My Name Is Khan is an upcoming 2010 Bollywood film based upon a true story. It is directed by Karan Johar, co-produced by Johar (Dharma Productions) and Shahrukh Khan (Red Chillies Entertainment) The screenplay is by Shibani Bathija, and stars Khan and Kajol. The musical trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy composed the film's score. Cinematography is by Ravi K. Chandran. Fox Searchlight Pictures is distributing the film. The film is slated for global release to theaters on 12 February 2010.
Plot
Rizwan Khan (Tanay Chheda), a Muslim child who has Asperger syndrome, grew up with his mother (Zarina Wahab) in the Borivali section of Mumbai. As an adult (Shahrukh Khan), Rizwan moves to San Francisco and lives with his brother and sister-in-law. While there, he falls in love with Mandira (Kajol).
After 9/11, Rizwan and Mandira begin to face a number of difficulties which causes them to separate. Rizwan then begins a long journey across the United States to win Mandira back. In the process of his journey, he "inspires optimism and joy in the hearts of the people he encounters by spreading of messages of goodwill wherever he roams."
